Grand Commons, San Mateo Park
The remodel of this historic 1930s two-story balances timeless elegance with modern comfort. A spacious new great room unites the kitchen and living areas following the relocation of the original fireplace and removal of an outdated kitchen island and bar. Newly installed panoramic patio doors strengthen the connection to the outdoors and open onto a shimmering pool designed by Peninsula Modern. Custom-designed millwork—including a built-in breakfast nook, mini bar, coffered ceiling, and cabinetry throughout—bring enduring beauty and craftsmanship. The thoughtfully reimagined laundry, powder room, and primary bath efficiently utilize space without sacrificing utility or grandeur. Carefully curated lighting and color palette create a sense of warmth, sophistication, and continuity from one room to the next. Two seamless slabs of book-matched Calacatta marble form the 14-foot kitchen island.
