Meet Tiff.

Tiff Johnson has worked in residential design for more than 25 years, practicing her craft between San Francisco, Los Angeles, and coastal New England. A Bay Area native, Tiff works with the peninsula’s natural beauty as a material substrate, using the daylight, views, native vegetation, and myriad microclimates—from seaside fog belts to the hot inland valleys—to shape her interiors.

Equally, Tiff’s education and practice in fine arts and architecture (University of California, Berkeley; FIDM, Los Angeles) lend a focus on the built world, evident in her precise geometries and seamless interplay of indoor-outdoor living that has long defined California modernism.

As a founding employee of Design Within Reach, Tiff helped grow one of the country's most influential modern design retailers, serving as both a merchant and a product developer. Working closely with designers, manufacturers, and artisans around the world, she developed an intimate understanding of the materials and fabrication methods behind exceptional furniture and interiors. She has collaborated with such celebrated designers as Jeffrey Bernett, Matthew Hilton, and Christopher Farr to produce furnishings that reflect timeless, modernist ideals.

Today, Tiff partners with architects, contractors, craftspeople, and homeowners to guide every project from concept to well-crafted completion. Known for her thoughtful attention to detail and calm, collaborative approach, she creates homes that are as functional as they are beautifully enduring.
